You
have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the
span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone
is but a breath,
even
those who seem secure.
“Surely
everyone goes around like a mere phantom;
in vain they rush about,
heaping up wealth
without knowing whose it will finally be.
“But
now, Lord, what do I look for?
My hope is in you.
Psalm
39:5-7
I
know that my redeemer lives,
and
that in the end he will stand on the earth.
And
after my skin has been destroyed,
yet
in my
flesh I will see God;
I
myself will see him
with
my own eyes—I, and not another.
How
my heart yearns within me!
Job
19:25-27
